> Staff 5/5
> Price 5/5
> Equipment 1/5
>
> We loved our dive guide, Leo, who was patient and went out of his way to find sea horses and make a memorable experience.
> The dive master, Shane, was also a very professional and great guy who even turned a potential bad experience with sales personal into a very positive one. Favoring customer service over over short term profit.
> Also a very great vibe. In fact on late night walks their shop seems to be the party place with free flowing rum, laughs and guitar playing.
> The reason for the low rating is the fact that on the first days dive one regulator had to be replaced as it falsely registered air pressure. No big deal, discovered on land and remedied.
> On the second dive however an emergency accent had to be made due to the failure of a second regulator as it was leaking air. It was not life threatening as the leak was quite obvious and discovered at only 7 meters down but still far from ideal.
> Dive ships on Malapascua all offer the same dives thus the differentiating factor is price, personnel and equipment. I hate to give a negative review as you form a friendship with your dive shop divers however I would be remiss to not point out key equipment failure that could be life threatening.

**Reply from the owner:**

> Thanks Alex for your feedback. We have checked with our instructor about this issue of regulators. It appears that there was a valve oring to be changed on the first stage, which was the cause of the leak. There was no emergency ascent made, but a normal ascent to change the equipment for your comfort. It is unfortunate that the leakage was not explained to you for better understanding, as indeed guests doing DSD may get a different feel about leaks. At no point, such leak could become life threatening and this should have been explained to you as to avoid such confusion when commenting on that particular event.

> I give this diving center 2 stars. The first two dives were great, we saw thresher sharks and everything was going well. But the third one was a failure: just sand and nothing interesting to see. It was supposed that there was a low chance to see a tiger shark, but considering there was nothing else to see for the whole hour, I think it wasn't worth it.
>
> What really bothered me was that during the last dive, I entered decompression. I warned the instructor before we got into the water that we had limited bottom time according to the dive plan on my computer, and again when I was only 5 minutes away from entering decompression. He didn't take it seriously at any point, later claiming that he had entered deco many times, that nothing had ever happened to him, and that the brand of my computer was too restrictive. I find it quite serious honestly... Being exposed to too much nitrogen can be dangerous if not handled properly, especially being on a remote island where medical emergencies are virtually non-existent. From my point of view, there was no need to take such risks for a dive that offered nothing special.

**Reply from the owner:**

> Dear Guillermo,
>
> We are sorry you did not have a good experience on your dives.
> The dive at Monad in the area where the tiger sharks are, you are correct, there is not much to see, except a 25% chance of the tiger shark. I believe we are very honest about this and have a policy, where you can decide on the boat if you want to do this dive, if not, you will not be charged. However most divers want that opportunity to see a tiger shark.
> With the decompression, that is very serious and we always ensure that we dive to the most conservative computer in the group and do not do decompression diving. I have spoken to the freelance instructor who was guiding you that day, he has a different version of events, but nevertheless, I have reiterated to him and all our inhouse divemasters and instructors the importance of always diving to the most conservative computer. They are all very clear on this.

> BCD leaking and could not hold air for long, clips on the fins are loose. Worst maintained equipment I have ever used. My guide had it worst, even his regulator is leaking
>
> Threshers and guide are great, didn't return for day 2 though
>
> Speaking of thresher, I booked 2 shark dives then 2 calangman dives for day 1 and luckily arrived a day earlier as I had been scheduled for calangman dives only which I had to sort out
>
> The dive day was also hectic, I was a join-in with french kiss divers and oddly they went to Monad first instead of Kimud even though we left early at 5:30 instead of 6:00
>
> 2 stars instead of 1 because staff were friendly and tried their best

**Reply from the owner:**

> Sorry Ray you did not have a good experience with us.
> In terms of equipment, we have all gear maintained regularly and any problems fixed quickly. We take spare equipment on the boats as well, as a backup, so any issues do not affect your dive.
> I invite any guests looking to dive with us, to ask to look at our equipment room, we will be very happy to show you. I think you will be happy with relatively new BCDs, lots of new wetsuits and regularly serviced regulators. I do not feel this review is a fair reflection of the quality of our dive equipment, but I ask you to be the judge of that. We will be very open to show you and try to give you the best quality and fitting equipment we have.
> In terms of dive schedule, we do not offer 2 thresher dives and 2 Kalanggaman dives in one day, so I cannot comment on that.
> Going to Monad before Kimud, is not odd. It works to go to Monad either before or after Kimud. Sometimes it is better to go early to try to see the tiger shark at Monad first thing in the morning. For Kimud, you can see the thresher shark throughout the morning.
> We partner with other dive centres, especially French Kiss, to share boats, as they have a similar ethos to us. From my experience, they provide very good customer service, are very well organised and that is one of the reasons we like to work with them.

> My friend and I did a two days dive trip with fun and sun at the end of Sep 2023 and it was fantastic. Malapascua is a beautiful island and its dive sites were great. What made the trip exceptional was the amazing dive crew. Leo, our dive guide is an experienced and attentive guide who took care of my friend and I well during our dives. He makes the effort to find interesting and small creatures. He also tries to make sure that everyone in the group saw what he has found. Thanks to him, we were able to see many interesting marine animals such as pygmy seahorse, sharks and nudibranches. In between dives, Leo and the crew were constantly making sure that we were well fed and hydrated. We enjoyed ourselves a lot and will definitely recommend anyone who wants to dive in Malapascua to go with them.

**Reply from the owner:**

> Thank you for your nice review and we are delighted that you had a great time with the team in Malapascua ! Cheers

> Fantastic divemaster Leo! He pays close attention to everyone and makes sure you see everything. He also has excellent timing when diving at the sites; we barely saw any other divers.

**Reply from the owner:**

> Hi Marij! Glad you enjoyed diving with Leo and Fun & Sun. See you soon :)
